ROCHESTER — The Rochester Fire Department welcomed several hundred residents Saturday at its first Fire Safety Festival, which showcased fire prevention techniques and safety tips for adults and kids alike.

On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Fire Department, in partnership with Papa Gino’s, offered a variety of safety demonstrations and interactive activities, including:

  • How to properly use a fire extinguisher
  • The impact that sprinklers have in helping to suppress a fire
  • How an arson K-9 aids investigations into suspicious fires
  • A mock vehicle extrication
  • A chance to walk through the Rochester Fire smoke trailer

The day also included a landing of a helicopter from Lifeflight of Maine.

“I’m glad that so many members of our community were able to come and meet the members of our department and see the type of work we do,” Chief Klose said. “Our firefighters went above and beyond to welcome everyone and make the day fun and exciting.”
